Why are you here?

Of course you're here in cyberspace because you surfed in... curious, perhaps, about who we are and what we do.  Or maybe because you keep wondering if God wants you to be a nun!

But why are you here on earth?

  • You are here because God loved you into existence.

  • You are a gift to this earth.

  • There is a special mission, a way of making this world more like Heaven, that only you can fulfill.

Wouldn't it be nice if God would just send each of us an email with the details of His dream for our lives?  It can be very confusing and overwhelming to try to figure out what God wants of us... and whether we are willing to say "Yes."

Sister Rose shepherds two of God's precious gifts.  What will their special missions be?  Sister Rose knows that adding her love and guidance to these children's lives is part of her mission.

How can you tell whether a suggestion in your mind is from God?  After all, you have cultural influences, the opinions of friends and family, your emotional history, and God all competing for attention.  Don't despair!  It is possible to know God's will for your life, by carefully sifting through your desires and gifts.

This process of sifting through the different "voices" in our lives is called discernment, and we Handmaids love to help young people from all walks of life discern God's will for their lives.  One of our heroes is St. Ignatius of Loyola, who is famous for teaching people how to figure out God's will for their lives.  Can we help you figure out God's will for you?  Contact us for more information.  Whether you are questioning your career, vocation, education, or relationship, God cares and we do, too.

If you feel drawn to our spirituality, a Eucharist-centered life, and have a desire to be Christ's agent for reconciliation, please contact us.  We will be happy to give you more information about our Ignatian spirituality, volunteer opportunities, or the possibility of someday becoming an Associate (anyone, male or female, married or single, can join our mission) or Sister with our congregation.

A Day in The Life

Ever wonder what it is like to enter the convent?  To go from the corporate world to the life of a Religious?  Our novice, Sr. Joy Payton, can share her experiences with you.  Read from her humorous and poignant Convent Files.
