Vocation Promotion and Formation

Handmaids of the Sacred Heart of Jesus - To become a Handmaid of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, women are in formation for several years. This lengthy educational, professional, and spiritual process prepares Sisters for their final profession of vows and their lives of service. However, the costs of initial training and continuing education are high. Handmaids value the call to this way of life as an immense gift from God, a gift for the church, and for the world. The Sisters desire the continuation of their mission and invite young women to consider this lifestyle.

Handmaids' General Support

Handmaids of the Sacred Heart of Jesus - Handmaids do an outstanding job making ends meet with minimal funds. Their tireless work in advocacy and empowerment, education, counseling, and spiritual direction is often uncompensated. More resources are needed to help the Sisters in active ministries with their food, housing, medical, professional and emergency needs.

Senior Sisters

Handmaids of the Sacred Heart of Jesus - Handmaids choose to remain active in service to others for as long as they possibly can. Few sisters retire at all, continuing to do everything from housework to adult faith formation or managing an entire parish religious education program. The full time activity of our senior sisters is prayer for the needs of the world, a ministry deeply cherished by all those who rely on their support. Handmaids of all ages see health concerns as temporary setbacks, no matter what their age. Our Sisters are an invaluable asset to our Handmaid community and have earned our heartfelt gratitude, respect, care and consideration.
