Mission Statement

The mission of the Handmaids of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is Reparation.

As Eucharistic women, we work with Christ to bring healing to people's hearts and peace to their relationships with God, with one another and with creation.

"Our deepest desire is for all people to know and love God."

We, The Handmaids of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, serve the people of God in the Archdiocese of Atlanta in North Georgia.
Reconciliation in a broken world

We foster wholeness through:

  • Organizing religious education programs at all age levels

  • Engaging in spiritual conversation and guidance

  • Helping and empowering the underprivileged

  • Acting as a voice of the voiceless

  • Promoting understanding among various cultures and sub-cultures

  • Coordinating liturgies and the celebration of sacraments

  • Participating in Archdiocesan committees

  • Being actively involved in vocation ministry

  • Fostering the process of enculturation.

In the Georgia-Cherokee land of God, the ACJ Community of Atlanta is:

  • Invited to see God in all

  • Commissioned to foster Eucharistic adoration

  • Called to be Eucharist to all

  • Sent forth from the Eucharistic celebration

We reach out from our multiracial and multicultural communal / corporate identity as God's instruments of:

HARMONY ……………….. (love, peace, joy)

HEALING ………. (reparation of broken hearts)

HOPE …… (teaching the Good News)

...to all we encounter

Discernment Prayer

discerning women smile with the joy of following Jesus

The St. Rafaela's Women's Discernment group meets every second Thursday of the month from September through June.  We meet at 7:00 pm for the prayer of the Church, the Divine Office, and then enjoy shared prayer and discussion of topics of interest to women discerning their vocation.

This group is open to all women in discernment, regardless of interest in entering the Handmaids.  Please call Sister Carmen at 404-636-5970 or contact her by e-mail
