Handmaids of the Sacred Heart of Jesus
We are Roman Catholic Sisters who live, pray and minister in community, drawn by a common call to give our lives completely to Jesus Christ, His Church, and His people in a life of joyful chastity, poverty, and obedience. The Handmaids find a model in our foundress, Saint Raphaela Mary, who answered God's call generously and began our congregation. We received from the Church the mission of "reparation to the Heart of Jesus," which Saint Raphaela described as "true love for Jesus in the Eucharist and collaboration with the desire of His Heart: the salvation of all people."
We are apostolic Sisters: active and prayerful women. We are energized for ministry through daily celebration of the Eucharist and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and in a rich community prayer life. At the same time, our active ministry of education (both in and beyond the school setting) is "an encounter with God which transforms us into contemplatives in action." (Constitutions 9).

Upcoming General Superior Visit
Sister Inmaculada Fukasawa, acj, General Superior of the Handmaids of the Sacred Heart of Jesus will visit all the communities of the United States Handmaids during the month of September. [10th-25th]. She will be accompanied by United States Provincial Superior, Sister Dorothy Beck, acj and members of her General Team, Sisters Nelida Leguen, acj and Gabriella Espinosa, acj. Sister Inmaculada and her four member international team live in Rome, but travel the world visiting handmaid communities in 26 countries.
Handmaid Renewal Days Celebrated
The Handmaid USA Province recently convened in early August at the Saint Raphaela Center for their annual Renewal Days. Sister Margaret Scott, acj, author of The Eucharist and Social Justice, was the main speaker. This year’s Renewal Days also celebrated the universality and internationality of the Handmaids in the USA Province.
